Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
