Both Deceased Students Named in the Providence Campus Shooting as Authorities Continue Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who were killed in Saturday’s mass shooting on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also posted condolences publicly, remarking: “It's indescribable. Remembering her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a Hampton Inn about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the student's death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, friends, and schoolmates and grieve for of his bright future.”
