Brian Eno Urges Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The single blends a combination of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the project have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
