Manchester United Set to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.
A Marquee Signing for United
The forward, with six months left on her deal, is known as a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. This signing will be seen as a major coup for the Women’s Super League team.
Her exit from Bayern has been anticipated after she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its top forwards. According to multiple sources, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.
Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival should represent a significant boost to United’s attacking options. She has been highly reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- For seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Building Momentum at Old Trafford
The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when the club appear to be building momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes include securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s extension, a club official stated: “She has become a critical component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a side from the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
