Monarch to Share Personal Statement on Cancer in Television Programme

King Charles has filmed a first-hand account about his journey with cancer, which will be broadcast as part of this year's Stand Up To Cancer initiative, spearheaded by medical research organisations and a television broadcaster.

Official sources stated the King would discuss his "healing process" as a cancer patient, in a video message on Friday at 8pm UK time.

The message, filmed within a royal residence recently, will stress the critical nature of preventative health checks to ensure more people detect the condition at an early stage.

This will be a uncommon insight on the wellbeing of the Monarch, who has been in a course of therapy since the news was shared in early last year. But it is thought doubtful the King will specify his specific form of cancer.

The Campaign's Primary Goal

The annual charity event each year generates donations for medical research and patient care and urges people to get check-ups to boost the odds of an early diagnosis.

The King's public discussion about his condition, and his experience as a patient, has been intended to raise awareness and to encourage more people to get screened - and this will be advanced with this unusual royal involvement.

So far the King's primary strategy to his cancer has been to continue his schedule, upholding a hectic timetable in spite of his regular rounds of treatment, and he is understood not to have sought to be characterised by his condition.

Recently has seen the King, 77, taking several overseas trips, notably to Italy and Canada, and receiving the highest tally of inward state visits to the UK for a generation, featuring the German president last week.

The Televised Evening Programme

This Friday's awareness programme on the network, featuring celebrities including a team of famous hosts, will encourage people not to be frightened of getting preventative tests.

The hosts have been had experience with cancer - McCall disclosed last month she had undergone surgery for a tumour, while Clare Balding was treated for the illness over a decade ago. Presenter Hills has previously mentioned his father, who had stomach cancer and then later leukaemia.

The programme will target the approximate nine million people in the UK who Cancer Research UK estimate are not compliant with public health checks, with an website to let people check if they are qualified for examinations for breast, bowel and cervical cancer.

In an bid to demystify screenings and show the importance of prompt detection there will be a real-time transmission from hospital departments at Addenbrooke's and Royal Papworth hospitals in Cambridge.

"I want to remove the anxiety from health checks and show everyone that they are not isolated in this," stated one of the hosts.

Available Health Checks

Right now in the UK, there are several key NHS cancer screening programmes - for specific cancers - available to eligible individuals.
