Both are being considered with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following the former manager's departure on Monday.

McKenna's Stance on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but stressed he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and guided the team to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the Championship and they currently sit twelfth place in the Championship.

"I have not had such conversations," the English capital native ex- Irish youth international said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my focus is currently.

"I possess a unique job here at a special team. And we're at a crucial stage of the campaign. Everything external hasn't reached my radar."

Context and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about these. "I don't think all people has to publicly and declare what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in last year and was questioned about his reported £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he replied. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you regardless!

"I approach this role like I will remain Ipswich manager forever. I understand that's not invariably going to be the situation, but I'll always do my best as long as I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy represented the Hoops on temporary transfer from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Wales striker is inclined to complete the current global tournament campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in November would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of making those, thanks to a successful Nations League performance, even if they fail to end up Group J second place.

Given his present stance, Bellamy, whose agreement expires after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the minimum.
