Acceptance of Resignation
The nation's top law enforcement official, the Attorney General, announced Habba's resignation on Monday. Bondi stated that the appeals court finding made it unworkable for the official to perform her duties.
"But do not mistake adherence to the ruling as defeat," she declared. "The effort will now extend throughout the country."

Habba's exit follows closely on a US appeals court found that she had been acting without proper authority as the federal prosecutor. This ruling is could influence scores of criminal cases in New Jersey.

On a social media platform, the Attorney General contended that the court "must not override the President's choice of lawyers entrusted with performing the fundamental role of the presidency of prosecuting crime."

She commended the prosecutor's work and pointed out that while she was in charge, the city of Newark saw a 20% reduction in crime. Additionally that the Camden experienced its first summer in half a century free from homicides.
Legal Career
The 41-year-old attorney, first joined the former president's legal defense in recent years. She later represented the former president in his hush-money trial in 2024, which resulted in his guilty verdict on dozens of charges of financial record manipulation.
Prior to her appointment to the role of US Attorney, the former president had announced he was naming her as his senior adviser during his second administration, calling the lawyer as "unwavering in her loyalty" and a relentless legal advocate.
