NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates includes live text for the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the NFL season , after recent talk regarding two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.
Striking in those games were the number of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia committed them in key moments meaning they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period against Denver, set to play in London this weekend.
However it proved good to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the victory 21-17.
Denver boast the top defender in CB Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing extra defenders instead they might position two linebackers in the interior before withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They finished the previous year strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up big while new running back their rusher is a player the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
It's impressive how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows how Denver represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since you can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and keeps you in positive down and distances.
It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass all over, however they lack the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, plus he is highly agile.
His strengths include his mobility, being able to pass on the run, and using varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.
For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays great poise under pressure and is not bothered by extra rushers. He aims to evade a sack as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.
If you consistently rush it consumes time and forces the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the field vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has bitten back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach likes that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB who's similar to play-dough. The coach can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I think it's a special experience for the coach.
The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the success the Broncos are having offensively is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you during difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to hold their division. The key to do to continue this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they're the only team yet to win a game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.
This hinges upon which form of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
